A comprehensive database of predicted cyanobacterial RiPPs and bacteriocins.
CyanoCIN is the first integrated platform dedicated to cyanobacterial RIbosomally synthesized and Post-translationally modified Peptides (RiPPs) and bacteriocins. RiPPs represent a rapidly expanding class of natural products with diverse bioactivities, ranging from antimicrobial to anticancer properties.
CyanoCIN bridges these gaps by integrating 10,258 curated entries (6,698 unique precursor peptides) across 13 RiPP classes from 1,921 genome assemblies spanning 1500 cyanobacterial strains and 143 genera. The database features multi-modal annotations, including data curated from 50 literature sources and 56 PubChem CIDs with bioactivity data.
Critically, CyanoCIN differentiates itself through embedded analytical tools: BLAST for sequence dereplication, Big-SCAPE for biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) similarity networking, and MultiGeneBlast for comparative cluster analysis—capabilities absent in comparable resources.
